Saturday 5:00 pm Show Ring

The purpose of this competition is to promote an understanding and recognition of all these different species’ divisions as well as to encourage interaction and friendly competition among our animal showmen.

Species included are - Beef, Sheep, Meat Goat, Swine, Dairy Goat, Horse & Dairy Cow (if we have enough)

Qualifying - The winner from the highest division of showmanship from their species will qualify for the Master Showman Contest.  (Elite division, and Senior division where elite is not available).
· If eligible qualifying exhibitor chooses not to participate the option would go to the reserve champion in that department. If exhibitors for a particular species chooses not to participate, that species would be eliminated from competition.
· If one exhibitor is eligible for more than one species, they must choose one species to represent, then that would open eligibility for runner up of species they declined to represent.
· If no exhibitor for a specific species is eligible then that species would be eliminated from contest.
· If an exhibitor has an automatic win in a showmanship class by virtue of no competition, but win in another showmanship species class they must represent the species in which they are the only exhibitor
· Qualifying exhibitors must pickup Master Showmanship Contest paperwork following their livestock show, and return no later than 1pm on Saturday

Show Preparation -
· With the help of superintendents, the appropriate number of animals per species will be selected for contest.
· The winning exhibitor’s animal can be one that is used, but cannot be used by that exhibitor.
· Exhibitors are encouraged to learn the way to handle different species safety and how each animal is shown for showmanship.
· This would promote relationships amongst kids and barns.
· Learning experience and gain respect for different species as it is harder to show some animals then it looks.
· In addition to educating themselves, the audience will also learn what is important to know concerning showmanship of the different species.
· Animals will be shown unfit

Show Rules -
· Exhibitors must wear Jeans, closed toed shows/boots, Fair T-shirt & exhibitor number
· Exhibitors are expected to use appropriate show gear (show stick, halter, collar, no collar, etc.).  We encourage barrowing from species exhibitors.
· All species will be shown in the show ring
· The animal owner and livestock committees can assist with getting animals to the show ring, but once in the ring it is the responsibility of the exhibitor to show. NO COACHING is allowed at any time during the contest. Any contestant being coached will receive a zero score for the species being shown at the time of the coaching incident
· Each class will last a maximum of 10 minutes
· One judge will evaluate all species classes
· Exhibitor would be evaluated on their ability to show each species correctly, general show etiquette & attitude in the show ring.
· The scores for each species will be totaled for each contestant, and a champion will be selected.
· The champion will receive a belt buckle & a $500 cash prize
· Once exhibitor has won the master/ultimate Showmanship, they are ineligible to compete for it again.
