Fair Queen Contest
Judging will take place Sunday before the Fair and crowning will be Thursday evening of the Fair. Both events will take place on the fairgrounds.
Mission: To happily and enthusiastically represent the Boone County Fair and educate the public about the fair during her year of reign.

Contest Rules
1.) Each contestant must be at least 16 years of age and not more than 21 years on the first day of the Iowa State Fair.
2.) Contestants must never have been married or have had children.
3.) Must reside in the county she represents or an adjoining county if her 4-H/FFA membership is in.
4.) Each contestant must be an active member in good standing of a Boone County 4-H club or FFA chapter.
5.) Contestants cannot be crowned queen if they are a current title holder for any other group (with the exception of county livestock organizations).
6.) No professional model (one who has had ongoing employment in which modeling was the primary part of the job) is eligible to compete in the state competition.
7.) Any queen contestant who has competed at the Iowa State Fair Queen Contest may not compete again. If a contestant entered the county contest last year but did not participate at the state level, or did not win the county level may enter the county fair contest again. (If all other requirements are met)
9.) Contestants must complete an application and submit prior to the deadline.
10.) Contestants must have a Boone County 4-H or FFA leader/advisor or Boone County Fair Board member or Livestock committee member complete the online "contestant character evaluation" prior to the deadline.
11.) Contestants must participate in interviews with the judging panel.
12.) A competent judging panel will select the Boone County Fair Queen and Princess. Judging will be based on the following: Personality, Attitude, Appearance, and Awareness, Leadership and citizenship – Contribution to Community, Fair Participation, Overall Appearance, Charm, Poise. These qualities will be evaluated in the application, character evaluation and interview. Judging comments are not available to the contestants.
13.) The winner of the county contest will be crowned “Boone County Fair Queen”. The first runner up will be named the "Boone County Fair Princess". The Queen and Princess will be required to enthusiastically appear for the County Fair Board in official capacities at each of the shows, grandstand events, and any other events that the board deems necessary.
14.) The Boone County Fair Queen and Princess will happily represent the fair in the Boone County Fair and other local parades and fair promotional events.
15.) The crowned Boone County Fair Queen is required to participate in the Iowa State Fair Queen Contest. In the event the Boone County Fair Queen is unable to participate in the Iowa State Fair Queen Contest, the Princess will represent Boone County
16.) The reigning Boone County Fair Queen and Princess are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that reflects positively on herself, her family and the Boone County Fair. Should the reigning Boone County Fair Queen or Princess become involved in any inappropriate activity including (but not limited to) a drug or alcohol related offense that reflects negatively on herself, her family or the Boone County Fair, the Fair Board (by majority vote) can remove her crown, title & scholarship.
17.) The Boone County Fair Board reserves the right to change and interpret the foregoing rules and regulations at any time as may be deemed expedient.
