Pee Wee Shows

The Pee Wee Shows at the Boone County Fair (used to be called Pre 4-H Shows) are to encourage youth to participate in livestock exhibition at a young age. We hope these youth will foster an excitement to join 4-H and FFA and participate in livestock projects at the Fair in future years. These classes are open to any youth who fit the rules below.

Entry Times:
The Pee Wee Shows at the Boone County Fair (used to be called Pre 4-H Shows) are to encourage youth to participate in livestock exhibition at a young age. We hope these youth will foster an excitement to join 4-H and FFA and participate in livestock projects at the Fair in future years. These classes are open to any youth who fit the rules below.
General Rules:
- Open to children ages 5 (on or before July 1st) to 8 (or not yet able to enter 4-H)
- Participants must fill out and return an entry form to the Fair Office by July 1st. (Late entries will be accepted, but prizes may not be given to those individuals.)
- Child does not have to own their the animal, (borrowing is acceptable)
- All animals must pass vet inspections upon entering the fairgrounds
- The Fair Board is not responsible for marketing animals.
- All Pee Wee animals will be released after their show.
- Emphasis will be on child’s knowledge and handling of the animal (not the conformation of the animal)
- Kids are limited to showing one animal per species.
Species Specific Rules:
- Swine: A pigs must be at least 180 lbs.
- Sheep: Must have scrapies tags. Goat kids are allowed to show in this division as well.
- Calf: Open to both Beef & Dairy animals
- Rabbit – Friday 5:30pm Bloomgren Awning
- Swine – Saturday 30 minutes following 4-H/FFA Swine Show in the Show Ring
- Lamb– Saturday 2:00pm in the Show Ring
- Calf– Saturday 3:00pm in the Show Ring
Entry Times:
- All species can be entered during regular 4-H/FFA species entry time (Note: Because of limited stalling, sheep can only arrive early if they are being stalled in an assigned pen with a 4-H or FFA member)
- ---AND/OR---
- Rabbits 4-5 Friday (Rabbits coming at this time must check in and have the animal’s health checked with a designated committee member at the barn's north entrance prior to stalling/showing.)
- Entries coming in Saturday morning must check in at Gate D with the Vet and a committee person to assist with stalling accommodations.
- Swine 7:00 am – 8:00 am Saturday (Enter through Gate D)
- Lamb/Calf 8:00 am to 10:00 am Saturday (Enter through Gate D)
- Trailer Parking is allowed north of the barns for those who are only bringing animals for Saturday. All trailers/vehicles must be gone by 8:00 pm on Saturday.
